Bulgarian Wines - Few Tasting Notes
I have to say that my old bias of Bulgarian wines is getting swept away with each glass of the wine that I'm drinking. I had a few samples sent to me from an importer, to be honest my thoughts were of cheap and nasty wines from Bulgaria that were here long time ago, but these wines have changed my opinion.
Preslaw, Merlot '05
Light in colour almost like a very young wine. Fruity and slightly earthy on the nose. The palate has a slight tannin but its fruity with a very light acidity which keeps the wine well structured. Good length. This is a wine that I'd happily drink on a daily basis or have it in a restaurant as a house wine. Very different bottle with loops at the side of the neck.
Targovishte Reserve Merlot '03
Darker in colour then the above wine. The nose is not that forward but still showing dark fruits. This however is made up on the palate. Fruit(cherries, plums) spice, cinnamon, burnt chocolate all fuse well together. Unbelievably good structure and a very decent length.
